Went to a Funeral. Followed by a wake at the RSA in Pt. Chevalier. Took a small break and went to Synagogue Finished off at the continuation wake.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
In fine kiwi ingenuity tradition - we could not send Steve off in a burning longship so his coffin was brilliantly fashioned and decorated in norse longship theme. It was heart warming to see re-enactors from all over the country, from groups that have differences there together with a kind word and warm embrace for each other. We managed to laugh and cry in celebration of Steve's life. Our stories flowed on into the night...
My Synagogue visit was a Masonic event at the Beth Shalom on Manukau Road. Apparently, once a year we gather for Shabbat with the reform congregation in a spirit of wider understanding. (Yes I am having difficulty deciding who 'we' is. Funnily enough although technically I am both Jewish and a Freemason - I have actually paid my member ship fees to the lodge and not to the synagogue so there is a tipping in the balance there)
The continuation gathering for Steve was a bit more relaxed than the wake. Several of us did some serious sorrow drowning and a lot more laughing. In good gorgox tradition I woke up a little drunk then straightened out and went foraging for breakfast. I cooked pigs meat, lamb, eggs beans and tomato for the survivors and was rewarded kindly by a 'young' re-enactor who said "I honestly don't know if I want you at my side on a battle field but I do know that I want you at my side at a party"
Photographs.
Only a few of the wakes. There is footage of the funeral around hopefully it will become available.

I'm sitting here. It's gone midnight. I have come home from a very successful lodge meeting and two fairly odd things occur to me.
- I have to check my World of Warcraft auctions.
- I feel the need all of a sudden to yell y'all that I'm doing it.
What is it about having an LJ that makes people want to share?I leave you with these Haiku (I think) that occured to me while waiting for the auctioneer addon to scan the database. Virtual economies action quests Death mayhem profit A WOW kind of life
It is late at night My spine clicks with authority To bed I must go
